Frustrating...

I'm good and freakin' tired of the AK server being perennially emtpy. Tribes2 is about the most annoying game on the planet when no one on your team seems to understand that we aren't playing Quack... No organization, no teamplay, no communication; just a bunch of morons running around dueling, intermittantly interrupted by the random, grabbing of the flag. And this isn't just on any server, 5150 West, aYg, and others all have the same absence of what I would call real Tribes. You can help prevent this, more correctly, WE can help to prevent this. PLAY ON THE AUGUST KNIGHTS TRIBES SERVER! If you join, others will follow, so don't let an initially empty server dissuade you. The power of 2-3 players is enticing to most anyone. Pings are good on the server for most anyone on the West Coast, even decent for the rest of the country, so I'm sure that's not a problem. If word gets out that the AK server is a teamplay-oriented, admin heavy place to crash, many more regs will find a home there. Remember last week's practice? We had 30 people in there until Dynamix's broken-assed patch brough the server down. I would encourage each of you to join the AK server while playing Tribes, and if not, at the VERY least join Beast's RW channel (128.175.61.250) so that we know who's on and how to get in touch with you. Otherwise, I'm going to find myself in a new game because I'm getting awfully tired of the endless frustrations I get in the pubs.

I feel your pain Zorro. I make it a point to hit RW before going into T2 everytime.

The challenge you have with servers and players in general is the communication. If a couple guys from different teams join the server with those who have no tags, it doesn't mean they are going to jump into teamwork mode and start playing. Sure they probably would enjoy the game more however, if they don't or can't talk to each other they do what they feel like doing.

While playing the most competitive tribes servers last year at the height of my tribes abilities, the most organized pub play was team Defense or Spamming. Now what I noticed back then verses now is interesting. Guys would play their roles back then during pubs. So HD would do that HO would attack base defenses and so on and so on. Now, guys are still getting use to everything that isn't something they know. For instance, HO is not what it was in tribes because of the BS skiing governor. So guys are tryout other things. Vehicles are imo a big circus. Everyone is interested in flying them or jumping on board and bombing or just messing around with them.

Team based pubbing again in my opinion is done this way. As the ladder competitioin starts and teams get involved you'll notice guys playing their positions in pubs and sticking with that. The other way is when like on aYg you find several of their guys there (same team or not) working together on routes, escort, defense, etc. They use RW too and talk during pubbing to maximize their efforts. It really only takes 2 or 3 guys to communicate to make a difference.

Point well taken. I've had a mental block on using RW before pubbing, but I will make a point of logging on before going on line. Thanks for bringing it up.

Ive been playin on the AK server almost exclusively. Ive also been telling my old comrades at &lt;=RD=&gt; to check it out for some good gaming. If you see any of them in there say hi... most all of them are some real good peeps.

My main problem with the AK server is my pings. I'm an offensive player, so it's damned frustrating when my weapon takes up to a second to fire due to lag. I do most of my Tribing on servers in which I ping 50 or less. Mid-air shots are routine for me in such servers, whereas in the AK server, I'm lucky if my discs come anywhere close to a moving target.

I make it a point to join AK first and if nothing else work on skiing while I'm by myself... I just don't like joininh with 2-3 people on and finding my base trashed by some jackass, just my $.02 ... of course usually that's when i make an exit from the AK server and I find so do many other peeps who are on there...

I for one teach abstinence towards base raping. I've had many a pupil to educate since our server first came online. Sadly to say, many were our on knights. But they have made a bold and powerful turnaround these past few weeks. It makes me so very very proud, sniff, sniff...

Now we are able to enjoy a splendid morning, afternoon or evening fragging each other to our hearts content without worry our inventory stations we be offline and we have to fight naked...burr, some maps its just to cold for that.

The gens are sacred up to a point! When those cute little newbies with their hopes and dreams of ruling each map with a iron fist stop by, and start throwing "I am the greatest" from every mountain top, then I teach my pupils to smile and as politely as possible...FRAG THEIR ARSE!

Hi folks,

Yeah, my ping ain't so hot on the AK server either. I ping anywhere from 155-190 ... and that does not cut it against any LPBs who are on there. It makes disc fighting a frustrating experience. I should not have moved east.

Ab... if you only knew! I'm hiiting high 300s even with a few people on... I'd kill for a 150 ping just once! Just have to lead more and shoot carefully...

I'm so upset had to post it here too!

As Goob and Leonidas can attest, my language was horrible last night. Sorry! I'm just done with most pubbing on other servers now. The amount of BS you have to put up with from newbies, TKers, guys who don't give .02 cents worth what happens. Long stupid lines at vehicle pads are bad enough, but when I was playing HOF on Sanctury last night, my own team was dropping satchel charges and mines at my feet. Idioits!!! It wasn't just one time it was like I was doing a Mexican hat dance to jump out of the way, blast all the stuff up and get back into position. While the enemy was jumping into our base and taking down gens, wrecking havoc with the base, these idioits thought it was more important to do this stuff then keep the enemy out of our base.
This sort of cow chips finally got to me last night, I've put up with it most days and worked on my techniques. But unless I have admin rights on the server I'm playing, I shall be much less likely to pub. You'll find me in our server or in a duel server.
