    My prediction about the election.

I'd sworn off this forum for quite awhile but thought I'd do a random drive-by with my prediction, starting the morning of November 6th.

All year long, this race has been too close to call. Millions of dollars later and only one month to go, its probably going to remain that way.

If you thought Bush losing the popular vote and getting elected by a still-disputed 547 vote margin in Florida was interesting, you ain't seen nothin' yet.

I predict that the election will be close enough in numerous states to elicit both sides to initiate massive recounts and legal challenges. Both sides have enlisted armies of attorneys nationwide and already have in place legal Überteams to contest razor-thin statewide elections.

I predict that it will be the ugliest, most decisive post-election in American history and that it will occupy and divide the nation's attention for months with agonizing challenges from both sides.

I hope I'm wrong, but I have a feeling that this election is going to be an absolute mess, with the looming spectre of a possible delay of the inauguration. Ultimately, Democracy will survive and hopefully be strengthened, but it may signal the beginning of the end of the Electoral College.

Although I've rarely seen eye-to-eye politically with most August Knights, we can agree that we all love our country; we just differ on our views on how to make it better.

Once again, I hope I'm wrong but if I'm not, you heard it here first.

I have a feeling they'll never get rid of the Electoral system.. Popular Vote is not the way to go, IMHO.

I predict a Republican victory, one that won't be particularly close.

I also predict that that the loony left will spontaneously combust in a flurry of wild claims and conspiracy theories. They've already set the stage with nonsensical statements by functional idiots like President Carter. The media will give this minority a disproportionate amount of attention.

I'm still looking for one of you folk who support the leftist ideology to provide me with a logical argument in favor of their ideas. Explain again how more taxes on the job builders is going to improve our economy... (which is currently booming.) Explain how cutting our intelligence and military is going to make us safer? How waiting until we get hit to respond (and even then only with complete unanimous UN approval) is going to save American lives here at home.

None of the ideas espoused by the left stand up to close examination. I'm willing to be convinced, but usually all I get is a motto, slogan, or chant. Maybe if I'm lucky a picture of Bush with a little mustache.
None of the ideas espoused by the left have stood up to the "global test" of history. It's a sorry record of failure.

I think most Americans realize that this time around.

Squidly ... don't you realize that taxing the hell out of people who actually succeed so you can give it away to their less-fortunate comrades is the ONLY way to run a government? If we just take all the money away from the people who earn it, and give it to those who don't, all will be well. /sarcasm off.

Bush just signed in four more years of tax cuts today ... and that directly benefits me and my decidedly middle-class family. Do I care that rich people, receiving the same tax break, actually saved MORE money in taxes, because they earned more and paid more? No.

I do care that the Dems slipped a provision into the original tax cut bill to give the $1,000 child credit (tax refund) to people who did not make enough to pay taxes. That's just money taken away from those who contributed to the tax base.

I predict that the margin of victory will be larger than most think for Bush. Not a landslide, but nowhere near as close as the last one.

The Liberals have no foundation, and Kerry is a flat out liar and I believe more and more people are realizing it. The positions he doesn't lie about, he is just flat out wrong on. He accuses President Bush of spending money on Iraq instead of at home. So in other words, Kerry believes in spending money on social programs over defending out country. If that is not short sightedness, I don't know what is.

When was the last time a poor person provided you with employment opportunities?

How can you give tax cuts to those who don't pay any, or much, to begin with? Yes - wealth redistribution. The staple of the Liberal / Socialist way.

As I've said before, when the Clinton's look preferential to the candidate for the Democratic party - you know this country is in grave danger.

Just wondering, did you guys know Kerry was in Vietnam? I was just curious as he only mentioned it about 80 or 90 times during the debate and I hope you didn't miss that fact. But then again, he spent more time in the debate than he did in Vietnam. </sarcasm>

I'm still waiting for someone to step up and tell me how Kerry's plan for America is better.

    Lets go...I'm ready.

He mentioned Vietnam once in the debate.. not that I'm defending him.

Though as many times as he mentioned it over the past few months you just wish he would drop it. Manchurian Candidate anyone?

I wish I could but I think your right. Maybe next topic? Immigration reform is one thing I think Bush is doing wrong but Kerry has no better option on this topic either! The day will come Mr. Squidly!

    Time to revisit some predictions....

    Fortunately, none of this happened.

    Here was my prediction:

Well I think I nailed it with the first sentence. Fortunately I was off with the second paragraph. Some of the lefty bloggers are spazzing out, but the celebrities and the Michael Moore's of the world have been pretty sedate all things considered. Perhaps in another week or so we'll begin to hear some feedback.

I think we can thank Senator Kerry for the silence of the way-way-way-left. He recognized when he was beaten and conceded with class and dignity. For the radicals to come out complaining now would only make them look bad.

Amen to that, Beast. Kerry showed true class when he conceded, and no reputable sources are spouting conspiracy theories. Instead, we have the media and libs lamenting how racist, bigoted and intolerant the red states are. Waaaaaaaaa. That will win them more votes in '06 for sure.

There's some conspiracy whackos going full-force on Democratic Underground about rigged touch-screen voting machines, but no one is listening to them except a few similar nut jobs.

Admittedly the rash of stories in the news about how depressed the left is, and about possible mass-emigration to Canada, has been heartwarming. Purchaser, they are headed your way!
