    Numbers of players?

I'm really busy w/ work right now, and just getting an hour or two of T:V per weeknight. But every time I check populated servers, I get some pretty low numbers of players. Around midnight CST last night there were 60 to 70 populated servers, and many of those had one player. Those numbers seem awfully low compared to the T2 launch, but then I'm not paying all that much attention. Does the T:V launch seem kinda slow to you guys?

I was noticing that last night.. Usually only 500-600 players on at night.... Nothing like T2. It does seem kinda slow.

I think there are many more online games out there now compared to back then. More to choose from so it doesn't surprise me in the least.

I personally find T:V not as compelling a multiplayer game as T2 was. It's a very nice single player game, and there is some great multiplayer action, but T2 just had a certain elegant depth to it that T:V doesn't have.

You have to remember that game 4 of the world series was on lastnight as well. Before the WS you had the championship series that also took people away from gaming. Hopefully it will pick back up as I just got Tribes for my Bday.

I'm getting a similar feeling, Squidly. I'm trying to stick with it, but it feels like Tribes Junior: fewer options, fewer sneaky tricks, and fewer opportunities for teamwork. Everything is fast, loud, and bright. Bases fall in an instant and pop back up an instant later. The maps are small and crowded, without T2's sense of space and freedom. You never feel like your base is really yours, because an HO from the other side can ski there in under 30 seconds--even without the buggy. The bases are either impregnable or impossible to defend. They didn't solve the ridiculous flag lockup problem.

And the part that bugs me most, for some reason, is that your death-cam never shows you who killed you. They're so eager to show off their very pretty rag-doll physics that they didn't give a way to shut it off and use a T2-style death-cam to find out how you died.

Ahhh. I needed to get that off my chest. I don't want to discourage anybody from trying it. The 1P is really quite good. I just miss the old-school tough-as-nails game.

Oh well. I'm off to chew on T:V some more, hoping it improves.

Yep. I mean it's fun and all, but it's just not as deep and compelling as T2. I got my money's worth from that game and more... man we just played it to death. The strategies you could set up were incredible. Good point about the repair thing. Gens are down and back up almost instantaneously in this game.

I remain convinced that someone will wheel out a "classic" or T2 style mod that returns a lot of the strategy options to the game.

I still have not purchased the full version yet. After playing the beta my whole hang up is that Tribes 1 was a lot more fun and challenging. Everything was spread out over long distances and it took time and planning to take a base and to get it back up again also that took time and good defense. I still think that Tribes 1 was the best. My favorite mod to play in there was the Warzone mod. Wish the developers of that mod would develop something for T:V. I might wait a while and see if T:V improves before I go out and buy it.

I am tempted to run Tribes 1 again and get in that game again. I bet their would be a lot more people on it now since it is a free download.

IMO the single player game ALONE is worth the purchase price.

    You mean, kinda like Doom3?

I kid, I kid; T:V's single player story line is about the only FPS story line I've actually completed in a long time..

I've spent enough money on games, it's time for you to show some love back. And I don't want to hear I just bought a house excuse.
