After 8 hours of playing Half Life 2, I will concede that it is possibly the best FPS I have ever played. It's amazing how well it runs on my slightly-old Radeon 9700 Pro at 1280X1024.
Anyone who likes first-person shooters and DOES NOT have this needs to log onto Steam and buy it now.
Who else has it, and what are your thoughts?

AWESOME GAME! I just wish I was playing at home. Currently stuck playing on the laptop in a hotel room.... This weekend will be dedicated to Home base HL2...

I just picked it up on the way home from work today... installing as I type. Just inserted CD3 of 5.

Purchased via Steam, been playing since about 5:30am Tuesday morning.
It's a great game...lots of memorable stuff already and I'm only like 5 or 6 levels in. Not much of a story yet, and the loading times are lengthy but those are the only two negatives I can see. This one lives up to the hype.

Visuals are stunning and runs smooth as silk on my system at 1024X768 and all the eye candy turned up.
I look forward to trying out CS as well.. haven't played any form of CS in a long, long time.
The load times are a little annoying, but considering that is the only thing I can find to complain about so far... I'm impressed.

I cant wait to try it! I have to wait atleast anouther 2 weeks before I even get to install it
For those that are wondering where I have been, I have been in School in Sacramento for my new job with Union Pacific Railroad. Been here for the past 3 weeks doing nothing but studing and passing final exams to be a train conductor. Its been killing me but I know the payoff is going to be great. So I apoligize for not being around much. Sitting here in my hotel reading all the killer updates you guys have been writing on all the games released while Im in school is just killing me...
I cant wait to get home and join you all in some good gaming!

I picked myself up a copy, I agree with Ab, this is probably the best FPS I have ever played, the game just looks amazing.

Far Cry probably still has the edge on outdoor graphics, but indoor and the details (lots of stuff to move around, tables, chairs, bottles, pans, you name it...) HL2 owns.
