    Video card advice

I am currently in the market for a new video card. I am looking at either the Nvidia 6800 GT or the ATI X800 XT. Anyone out there want to give me a reason to buy one or the other?

I have to admit that I prefer ATI ... their driver support is top notch and they often communicate with their customers on the Driverheaven boards. They have an updated driver monthly. Nvidia seems a bit more chaotic with their driver support. The last time I had an Nvidia card (Geforce 3) most driver updates came in the form of leaked unsupported beta versions.

One final note - my computer has an AGP slot. I am not upgrading to PCI Express.

    Thanks,

Well, since none of y'all would come out of WOW long enough to give your opinions ... I bought a BFG 6800GT OC. It was a tossup between this card and the Leadtek card. I went with this one because it was available at Compusa near me, and it has a lifetime warranty. It comes with a stock overclock to 370 mhz.

Well, I didn't comment because I'm biased. I always buy Nvidia.

Well, my experience with my 9700 Pro made me want to buy another ATI product ... but their X-series cards are $100 more than the Nvidia 6800 GT series. ATI's drivers are the best out there now, despite their past history. They update them monthly.

However, I really like this 6800 GT. I ran DriverCleaner and it installed without a hitch. Games look great. I am playing Star Wars: Republic Commando with it right now. It's clocked to 410/1.1gHz with temps still in the safe range.

Here's a pic of my card. Interesting that it only takes up one slot with its cooling solution, and doesn't get very hot when overclocked.

I agree 100%. I'm still using my ATI 9800 Pro 128mb and it pushed Doom 3, HL2, and WoW perfectly fine. Stable as can be.

BUT, if I were to buy now, I think the price/performance ratio is in NVIDIA's advantage right now.
