    Strange Cable Modem Behavior

I haven't had internet connection all day. Only now, at nighttime, is it working. Same thing happened yesterday, and a few days prior. I bought a new cable modem, but it too isn't detecting the cable (no lights). The cable company says my signal's been a bit wierd, with all kinds of spikes, and are sending a guy out. What has really thrown me though is that the cable TV is fine. They say that's not unusual.

My theory - We just got a ton of snow, but it's relatively warm too. It's thawing during the day, getting something wet, and then refreezing at night. In any event, my internet presence has been a bit sporadic as a result.

For anyone interested, the cable company came out and discovered that the 5 point splitter in thier cable-box was full of water. Problem solved.
