    Sometimes you get lucky.

My home theater system is a Sony SAVA D900.

Fantastic system, especially considering the cost. It's an interesting configuration, as it comes with two towers; one of which houses the DVD player, the other houses the Subwoofer. Each tower has a speaker on top as well. There are 3 additional room speakers. I like this arrangement as there is no separate DVD player component to find a home for. The sound quality is excellent, better than anything I've owned before.

My only complaint is that it will not play CDR's, so no burned CD's, much less MP3's and VCD's.

Anyway, last week I bought a DVD burner for my PC.

Testing things out, I made a back-up DVD onto a DVD+R. For grins, I tried it in my SAVA, and it worked! I'm pretty floored, considering the SAVA won't even acknowledge the existance of a burned CD. This is allright!

Sony is famous for not dealing with Recorded media. My 200-disc DVD player can only read DVD+r media along with normal pressed disc's. So I frown at Sony also.

I don't know.. I buy all Sony equipment, my entire home entertainment system is Sony (Sony Trinitron KV27-V66 Television, Sony DVP-NS715P DVD Player, Sony SLV99 VCR, Sony RM-AV2000 Remote, OLD Sony Mini-Rack System, etc), and I've never had a problem playing any burned media whether it be DVD or CD. In fact, I made several VCD that played without problem.

Perhaps you shouldn't buy your "Sony" equipment from Gnomes on the corner in NY City.
