Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic II, the Sith Lords

Finished it last night. Good game, though I think the first had a little better storyline. Some things in the story line never really added up for me:

What was the purpose of the big final showdown orchestrated by Kriea? She dies and you fly off - how does this serve her purpose? Does this mean the Force is somehow destroyed by your continued existance?

In the end you strike her down, yet you don't die. This was not well explained, since I thought you couldn't do that due to the force bond. Just curious, seems like a gap in the story somewhere.

Atris apparently turns to the dark side and you kill her. So what was the point with the hints of a romantic subplot there? Seemed odd and without purpose.

Basically the ending was nerfed by Lucas Arts; included in the games archived files was the intended "real" ending that had to be shelved due to the imposed deadline by LA. I read a few topics about it from those who were going through all the extra files for modding purposes when they ran upon the cut-out ending, which looked far superior to what was actually shown.
