Retail BF2 Server is out!

For you guys nice enough to be hosting the AK servers, EA's released the full server downloads including the Linux flavor.

Even though they are the unranked server files they've already attached limitations as to what can be "modded/hacked." So no unlocking the extra weapons (which I can see as a way to promote use of the ranked servers from their 'certain point of veiw.') or anything else they deam to be "...undermining a core game feature..."

Hopefully they've included admin features with the installers, if that can be checked out before hand.

I will be setting up a server on my 10Mb connection. Its on the westcoast so not sure how you east coasters will ping, this may help any bandwidth issues you may have Palooka.

Does anyone have a retail server up and running yet? If so could you make a post providing the name and IP?

I'm not sure if I'm going to use the built in voice program with BF2. I still like the freedom of AK only with Vent.

There's a mall run in my future at lunchtime, so I'll try and get a retail server up on my box this afternoon. For voice coms, I'll probably stick with good ol' Ventrilo.

Don't run out too early for lunch. it's shipping today for retail sales tomorrow. Don't be afraid to call your favorite local game reseller and make sure it's in.

Thanks for the heads-up--guess I'll take a late lunch today. I'm going on your patented WaH program this afternoon so maybe I'll give EB a try late this afternoon--they're usually pretty good about having games in the store on Tuesday (the big release day for most CDs, DVDs, and computer/video games).

Currently has all maps in rotation, one round each, most other settings currently default. I don't have remote admin set up yet, but it's in the works. It's currently set up for 64 players--we'll have to see if the box can handle it, but I don't forsee a problem.

I never could get the demo to launch it kept crashing to my desktop. I went today to my local EBGames store and was turned away becuase they did not have it in yet. Bummer... I reserved a copy of the DVD version of it. I will be ticked if I can't get it to work. I am reinstalling BF:V just to get my system used to a Battlefield program again. Have yet to reload it since I did the reformat of my HD.

Also could use help on Ventrillo. I also posted on the tech support.
