Pink Floyd Stinks!!!!

I have been a huge fan of Pink Floyd most of my life, I really enjoy their music, BUT.....
Not sure if everyone is aware of this, but they are holding another Live Aid in different cities around the world on July 2nd to raise money and awareness for poverty in third world countries, always a worth while endeavor...
So, I start looking at the band list and in London is Pink Floyd. I click on the link that takes to me to their site and there is David Gilmour slamming the United States for not giving enough to poverty!!!!

WTF is it with these people?????
I wonder how much money Gilmore has spent on drugs that he could have given to poverty instead????
I am so sick and tired of people critizing this country for not doing this or that.... But, more so then that I tired of stinkin' communists in this country bad mouthing it when in fact we do more then anyone else does to help the world with poverty, health, and technology.

If you have an agenda and want to dedicate your fame to helping others, that's cool, but don't start slamming other people because you think they are not doing enough....
IMHO Live Aid is about bringing people together to help for a cause, I take a look at that link and all says to me is this guy is against our country....

Maybe Pink Floyd and U2 should band together, and charge less for their overpriced concert tickets, maybe then I could afford to "give to world poverty". For f'n sake, we have enough poverty here, I could give 2 hoots about another CONTINENT's problem.

What always amazes me is that the people who scream that we never do enough are the richest bastards out there. Why not donate their fortune and get some 3rd world, god forsaken country out of debt? Bono donates his entire fortune to Africa, pledges to live there to fix it! Not going to happen. So yeah, what zappa said.

I think Pink Floyd sucks. But not just for their policitcal leanings. I can't stand any of their music. I've never understood their popularity... but then again I've never needed to escape into a drug haze.

I think most of their popularity stems from our teenage desire to be accepted and to be cool. To say that Pink Floyd stunk would have resulted in ridicule when all you want to do is fit in. Your pot-head brother liked them so you would impress your friends by wearing his 'The Wall' t-shirt to 9th grade math class. You were showing support for a 70's counter-culture icon band that produced some really crappy music. And this continues on into adult hood. "What do you mean Pink Floyd Sucks? They're the greatest band ever, dude." Well, I've grown up. I've listened to their music and it blows.

Nice to know I'm not the only one to feel that way. Although a couple of their songs are OK and I can enjoy listening to them. But then again, I'm probably in the minority because I feel the same way about Led Zeppelin.

I love Pink Floyd going back to their very beginnings with Sid Barret right up until Waters split the band. I have not been a fan of the latest PInk FLoyd (which as far as I'm concerned might as well be called the "David Gilmour show"). While not agreeing with their politics I enjoy the music immensely.

Same goes for Led Zepellin.

This thread struck a chord, no pun intended. I am and have been a pink floyd fan since I was a teen, not to be cool, not to fit in but because I liked there music and current music of the time sucked. I think they've some fantastic songs although the early sid barrett stuff is alittle out there but I'd bet dollars to donuts most of you slamming them and saying there music sucks have never heard some of there best work set the controls for the heart of the sun or careful with that axe uegene and I could go on. let me guess you hate another brick in the wall song or maybe you've heard money too many times and it drives you mad. Fair enough, your entitled to your own oppinion. As a musician myself I have a great deal of admiration and respect for Rogers Waters, and David Gilmour from a musicians point of view. I don't agree with there politics, I for one think Rogers is a complete wing nut, Gilmour's not far behind but money, fame and drugs I suppose can do that to you. Show me any musician thats alive and had the same success in rock and roll as they've had that isn't alittle F'd up, most that come to my mind are all brits I can't think of any americans of hand. I guess my point is that I don't expect you to follow there political idealogy there musicians for cryin out loud not poilticians. And as Stitch said, who cares what there political message is just keep playing your guitar. Its no suprise that the brits for the most part resent the US , hell they resent everyone who isn't british.

I think this thread should have been more properly titled "David Gilmour, of pink floyd Stinks."

Pink Floyd is a fantastic band. Yes thats my oppinion.
