Thumbs up Call of Duty 2

The singleplayer demo for CoD2 is out, and I'm going to upload it to the FTP directory when I get home. I've played for a bit last night, and it looks like they've added a few neat elements to the game. Battle chatter is an interesting addition, in that the AI will spot and call out enemy locations with surprising detail. In addition to your squad members yellign out commands, you can hear German soldiers barking orders as well. It certainly adds some ambiance to the overall cinematic feel of the game. This game will be one to keep an eye on, and the full version is due to be released by the end of October.

Cool, I'll have to check it out. Anyone else download Day of Defeat: Source thru steam?

How is the new DoD? It seems like I was the only guy who had fun with the original.

I hated DuD, I mean DoD... but I'm willing to give anything a second shot. I have not downloaded it via Source yet though.

Outside of Madden 06, I'm not gaming much anymore. I generally only put in a game or two of that a week. Just nothing out there drawing my interest.

I popped on to a DOD server that was empty, just to run around and check out the graphics. It does look amazing - on par with CS: Source and Half Life 2.

I didn't spend much time with the weapons, although I did notice a flaw with the pistol. Standing in a room and firing at the wall, it is impossible to get the bullet to hit in the center of the crosshairs. I'd aim at the center of a clock on a wall and the bullet would 100% of the time hit in some random position around that point. If it were a real-life room, I'd have been standing less than 10 feet from the target. Weird.

I really enjoyed the demo. I'm getting COD2 as one of my XBOX360 package games. I'm looking foward to playing that online with Xbox Live. It would be nice if a COD2 Multi-play demo would come out soon!
