How do you answer the inevitable "What did you do this weekend ?" question

Given my profession (biology) and gender (female), it would be easier to say I dressed in feathers and attempted to capture phoenix mating habits than to say I sat at a computer and played video games over the weekend.

At this point I can pass it off as "couple's bonding" but the natives are becoming suspicious.

So all of you gentlemen who have been doing this for years and dare I say decades surely you have a couple of good answers to the question that does not leave the conversation in awkward silence.

I want to know these replies in order to continue my secret identity as a non-gamer.

I say "nothing". Or "Did a few chores, then watched football". Each is technically correct.

I've just stopped talking to people all together. That works well.
I mean, seriously, my wife doesn't even know I play WoW.

After I answered honestly a few times, people pretty much stopped asking.

    So to summerize, I could:
    1) Dry lab a hobby to appear more normal (Slaughter)
trust me lizard experiments would be normal to the group

    2) Be very vauge in order to pass as normal (Squidly)

    3) Foster my natural anti-social tendancies (Choozoo)
    a natural inclination for me.

    4) Embrase the gamer within let it out and watch everyone run (Beast)

Hmmmm. I'll try a new one on each person who asks and get back to you with charts and graphs, not a great case control experiment but it will keep me entertained for a while.

    Thanks guys.

It depends on who is asking. I have no problem telling my boss that I played paintball or video games all weekend. I might demure if someone I know less well asked.

Still, my answer of chores and football isn't a lie. I'll just leave out the gaming stuff.

Squid, why would you demure if you mentioned Paintball and Videogames to someone less? What is wrong in talking about what you enjoy. You should be confident in your hobbies. If it brings you pleasuere and joy, then you shouldn't be ashamed of saying so. No matter who the person is. Be proud in standing up tall and yelling out "I shot little Timmy in the head 20 times with my paintball gun, and I loved every green paint bursting moment of it" Or "I kill Horde on first sight!"

I'm not embarassed by it, I'm just have no time or patience to try to explain it to someone who's idea of a good time is knitting or watching Wheel of Fortune.

Stitch.. the last thing any of us want to know is what brings you pleasure and joy on your weekends.

Well that's what I get for not having a +2 Staff of Knowledge and forgetting to wear my Kilt of Foresight. (Man, I wish I played WOW... I feel like such an outsider)
