Looks like there's no hope for T2 ever being a remotely bug free game.

Check out www.planettribes.com. Looks like this time the rumor is true.

If they actually close the doors.....that will not bode well for Tribes players. The product still needs some work. Who will complete and finish this up??? A whole new DEV team who knows nothing of the game series???

Will be an interesting read on Monday when some hardcore news will come out.

8/10 Huge Sierra Layoffs--Dynamix Shut Down

Apparently Vivendi Universal’s management team decided to drop the axe on Sierra Studios, spilling the blood of more than 300 positions. Longtime developer Dynamix, of such games as Red Baron, Aces of the Deep, Front Page Football, and most recently Tribes, has been completely wiped off the map. Close to 100 staffers were given their walking papers at Dynamix alone.

Sierra was cut virtually in half, with multiple projects being canceled. The Hoyle line will be retained, as all it takes to sell another 400,000 copies is to repackage the thing in a new retail box. Everything else at Sierra was reviewed—no project escaped the microscope.

Vivendi Universal Interactive hopes to stem the ongoing loss of major dollars by Sierra. This cutting will enable Vivendi to write off the acquisition as part of the overall cost of the deal—creative accounting at its finest.

This culminates more than 2 years of continued mismanagement by Sierra and Havas. So much talent thrown down the drain. So many timid, frightened managers. So many incompetent decision makers.

    Cheers

It looks like Loki Software has bit the big one also. (They were the folks that ported Tribes 2 to Linux) I wonder what this will mean to our server??

That means that future patches, if there are any, will probably not become available for Linux servers, unless someone else takes on the responsibility.

    I skinned this from Tribalwar.com:

    Loki and Tribes2

Marweas sends in some good news for all of you Linux users out in the Tribes 2 world.
This email was sent to Alex (Marweas) from Loki's President, Scott Draeker.

We are still fully committed to supporting Tribes 2 and have assigned John Allensworth,
one of our developers, to ensure we stay up to date with the Windows version.

Also, we'd like to thank the community for their ongoing support. The well wishing, and
orders, have been a great motivation to us. And we've even had to do a reprinting of the
    game!
