Dude, sweet! I'm going to the Tribes site right now to download the latest patch so I can install it on my new box. On a semi-related note, I just discovered the coolest thing about my sound card: it can play up to 4 different programs' WAV-style sounds at the same time. What does that mean? It means I don't have to fire up a CD to have music in Tribes, I just have to load up my Winamp playlist. This is perhaps somewhat odd, but I like to have quiet, soothing music playing when I'm in an FPS game; I find Ben Folds Five works well in that regard. Sort of like the scene from Silence of the Lambs where Hannibal Lecter kills the guards, then goes back to his classical music...

I always have Winamp running whenever I play HL. Since I play most games windowed, I can skip the slow, mushy mp3s I made for girlfriends

With WA 2.72, the DirectSound output plugin should work quite well with Tribes, HL, and most other games. Heck, I even use it in Flight Simulator 2000.

Hey I've been playing tribes recently on my either my friends P400 comp, or my other Friends 1-GHz Athalon .

I've been doing my sniping as usual, and let me tell you I've been pulling off every sweetness shot with the laser rifle now My sneaking around without anyone knowing about it, before was bad enough. Now I've got my accuracy to boot. To get you an idea of how it's improved, I now expect to get air shots, and am disappointed when I don't make them (I make about every 4 out of 5 air shots, and try to actually shoot people out of the air when I'm trying to stop them, rather than ground).

Hell I picked off flag carriers every time they got our flag as they flew out of our base at Snowblind . Except that one time when someone on my team accidentally flew infront of him, just when I pulled the trigger. But I got him on the next jump he made anyways .

and I've found all new cheap spots on the maps . Also with improved clock speeds on their comps compared to mine, I put up actual fights, and win most .

I'm on any base server, but I like hanging on the 5150 competition east/west servers (when there's a space open).

If I can track down some friends, much the better .

And be sure to have the Wraith pack handy
