    Performance

I hated to do it, but I doubled my RAM today (1gb to 2gb) and suddenly I'm a much better player. Guns are more accurate and I don't die nearly as often! w00t!

Two gigs of RAM has made all the difference. I am now running at a mixture of medium and high settings at 1280X1024, and it is very smooth.

    Specs:

P4 Northwood running at 3.2 gHz
2 gigabytes of PC3700 Kingston HyperX memory
    GeForce 6800GT

I've done everything except replace the CPU, and I think that's where my problem now lies. I run at medium and it runs perfect... the minute I crank it higher.. st-st-st-stutter. My video card is new, my ram is up to 2gb as well. Oh well, medium works fine for me!

found this one this afternoon and will give it a try tonight:

    3. Try cleaning out your shaders and cache, to do this, go to C:\Documents and Settings\username*\My Documents\Battlefield 2\mods\bf2 and delete the shaders,
next go to C:\Documents and Settings\username*\My Documents\Battlefield 2\LogoCache and delete the cache.
Try Battlefield 2 again to see if it is better, if not, move your battlefield 2 folder from my documents to your desktop, this put the game onto default settings, as well as cleaning out its cache and shaders again.
