    Witnessed bad accident...

I was on my way home from work today, left a little early and am on vacation next week, and was coming West on Route 78 into PA from NJ just before I get on 33. I'm riding along and all of a sudden I notice a rapid movement out of my left eye and some smoke. I look up and see a white Chrysler (like a 90s imperial or something) turned sideways in front of the rig. The rig is pushing the car sideways towards me - on the other side of the highway. The truck is pushing in the passenger side of the car as it's coming near me. I immediately pull over to a stop as all 4 lanes in both directions comes to a stop. Im on the inside median the truck stops directly parallel to my position and by this time I have grabbed my cell phone and called 911. I can see others doing the same as a bunch of people are getting out of their vehicles to help. I did not attempt to cross the large, wide median as there were already many people there. I just stayed on the phone with 911 until police/rescue showed up. I'm not sure if there was someone in the passenger side or not, but if there was... I don't think it's going to be a good outcome. =(

The news so far has only reported an accident on 78.... I'm hoping there was not a passenger as I didn't see any major damage on the drivers side as it was coming at me. Not that that means the impact couldn't have done serious damage.. but I'm hoping I read tomorrow that everyone survived but I have my doubts unfortunately.

On a rainy afternoon a few years back, I had a Ford Ranger loose control right next to me on the freeway and start doing barrel rolls across all 5 lanes. Me and another motorist pulled the guy out (he was belted and 100% okay). But to this day, when ever I drive along that part of Highway 101, I always get a little shiver and tighten my grip just a bit.

Coming home from a movie a couple weeks ago at about Midnight-1am we're crossing lanes to get into the farthest lane when all of a sudden we see headlights coming at us...

Thankfully we got out of that lane pretty quick, though she did end hitting someone else (wasn't head on, thank god). Hit some other kid in the backend after he spun out trying to avoid her. Found out later that it was a real old woman who was confused, don't even know if she should've been driving... something tells me she shouldn't have been in the first place.

Well so far no news in the paper or on the websites for any fatal accident, so I'm hopeful everyone was OK.

I know the spot you're talking about, I use 78 when I'm on the way back from my GF's house. Really makes you think. Glad you're okay, though.

I used to work as an EMT in northern maine, and we often had a moose accident a month. Often not a pretty sight, but there is one that sticks with me a bit more then the others. This poor older dude in his sixties was headed up the interstate in his dodge pickup when he it a 600lb bull moose. The thing essentially dropped on the trucks hood and slid up and through the windshield. Thankfully the side bars and the moose's antlers stopped it from continuing into the cab. What did continue, however, to land all over the poor man was................aprox. 800 ticks. His face, his arms, clothes, neck, you name it he was covered. After bringing him into the er and under the care of a few freaked out nurses and a pa, I went straight to one of the empty rooms and stood in a hot shower for the longest time, then again when a moose gets busted open ticks arent the only things flying around, so a shower was kinda common place.
