And the flags are all dead at the top of their poles.
AMD counters.

If you were a zombie and I had to kill you, I'd feel sad.
I guess I won't order parts for 2 weeks then
I've always been a fan of the AMD chipset...
It'll be interesting to see how this all unfolds (who'll be on top, etc.).

Not much of a counter. More like a "oh yeah? Well someday our stuff will be better again. In the meantime we're going to make our slower chips cheaper!"Originally Posted by [AK]Bribo

Just sayin' is all. So... yeah.
Chooz - I wouldn't wait for anything. The waiting game leads to paralysis. that being said buy as much PC as you can afford as things tend to get out of date fast.
I've always been an AMD fan but right now I'd go Intel.

It doesn't really matter what you buy, the important part is that the competition keeps pushing the envelope and prices remain competitive.
Where AMD has been kicking Intel's @sses for the last few years is price:performance ratio. It's only the last 2 years or so where AMD was the clear winner in price and top overall performance.
If patterns hold, AMD will match or pass in performance within about 3 to 4 months and will do so at a much lower price point. Rumors have it that the new AMD 4x4 (dual socket, dual core) will hit by end of year.
I haven't been paying much attention lately, but now that I'm probably within a few months of building a system... I've been trying to 'catch up' with the hardware scene and reading my MaxPC a little more thoroughly.
