    need a new machine

After talking to Stitch, I'd imagine that my old machine could never handle BF2, it barely handles WoW. I do have an advantage though with my slow machine, because I see Horde players spinning around looking for me

Anyway, I am seriously considering this

but it could seriously hamper my plans to get this in '08:

So any alternatives would be appreciated....

Beaker (Pharmacea) has a Sager. Seems like she has had a few technical problems, and their tech support is a bit slow ... but I think all the issues have been resolved.

I'm in need to upgrade as well. My P4 3.0 and ATI AIW X800XT are barely hanging on for both BF2 and my Sim Racing purposes. Although I am able to play both at 1650 Resolution on my DELL 20in widescreen LCD which surprises me. I do have to turn down 'some' eye candy in BF2.

Anyway, I am seriously considering this
That's a serious notebook. I think it's pretty sweet... but the one downside is upgrading and the severe limitations there of with notebooks. With gaming, no matter how far ahead you think you are buying, you will be 'behind' at one point or another. I didn't read all through everything, but does Alienware have the upgradeable video card option?

Not to mention that has to be one hot son of a gun.....

So any alternatives would be appreciated....[/QUOTE]

Are you "sold" on a notebook? If not, you might be able to build a killer tower system and still be able to get that bike in '08.

We had a Sager and it was a great notebook. The only problem we had was what I thought was a faulty IDE controller but ended up being a bad drive. I sent it in and got it back in pretty quick order. I had purchased it through PC Torque. Sager use to be, not sure if they still are, the builder for many Dell and Alienware systems.

I guess the notebook would be more for vanity purposes, like gaming poolside and taking it with me to travel, etc.

I'm not usually to concerned with having the latest and greatest ALL of the time like someone I know, but if I'm going to spend 3,000 I think I might as well spend 4,000 and get the best there is.

I'll look at desktops, I use them now and it isn't so bad....

You could get a VERY fast desktop, AND buy a cheap laptop for poolside internet for that $4000.

Best money I ever spent was the < $600 on an used iBook from ebay. Included MS Office for OSX and a ton of iTunes music. I have used it every single day the last 2 years for couch surfing.

You could really save some dollars if you can build yourself, but I know some people just don't want the hassle and it's understandable. I also understand the notebook desire, as it's damn nice to have a notebook that can do it all and take it wherever you want. I bought my wife a Dell Inspiron E1505 notebook a few months ago with an Intel Core Duo processor T2300 (2MB/1.66GHz/667MHz), 15.4 Inch TrueLife Wide-screen WXGA, 1GB, DDR2, 533MHz 2 Dimm, and 256MB ATI MOBILITY RADEON X1400 HyperMemory loaded with Microsoft Windows XP Media Center Edition 2005. Built in wi-fi, remote, all that jazz. I paid about $1,500 after rebates and it's a damn fine machine.

You may want to look at the Dell XPS line in both laptops and notebooks. You can get some pretty solid machines for a decent amount. Again, all pending your desire or lack there of to build your own.

    Good luck.

I have got a Dell Precision M90 (I conned my boss into getting it for me) It is the best laptop I have ever had. As far as the vid card.. it has a Nvidia Quadro FX 2500M 512mb ram which is the equiv of a 7900GTX. I play everything at 1920x1200 and it is smooth as silk. Watching for the dell deals you can pick one up for about 3300-3500 or less with the right coupons.

This is going to be a while, it took me 3 months to get an iPod.

Bleh go with a desktop, build it your self, and knock half the cost off.

I built my first PC I dont know about 3-4 years ago, its not a hard process and actually quite enjoyable. Another plus side is if you want to go all out you can always order a few parts a month, you know the payment plan

Anyway thats a badass looking Laptop and if you want it do it. The Bike? well I wouldnt ride no stinkin street bike so thats your call

EDIT: Also note there are alot of desktop cases out there designed for LAN parties and would probably be a lil easier to take with you on trips and what not, if thats what your looking for.

I think the whole process in building your own is the most rewarding. You know and control each piece of hardware you put into it. And the awesome feeling you get once it's done and up and running is really worth it.
