In short - Israel may be responding overwhelmingly but there are many good reasons why they are doing so, in my opinion. They have made many concessions to placate their critics and the larger Muslim world but what has that got them?

Yes, why won't the Israelis lie down and die peacefully, instead of fighting back? It's very inconsiderate of them. And it's ridiculous that the USA would back the region's sole democracy, rather than supporting the anti-democratic kleptocracies that train and fund terrorists.
