    R.I.P. Steve Irwin

Although a lot of folks thought that Steve was a little unprofessional and did a bit more show-boating than necessary, I think he brought educational animal shows back on the air after a thirty year absence. Just as Cousteau brought us the oceans and Perkins brought us African plains, so to did Steve Irwin bring us the wildlife of Australia in an easy to digest format. And if his antics raised a few eyebrows the end result of his outstanding work was sparking interest in children around the world about animals. He truely loved what he was doing and you could see it in every show. You never got the opinion that someone else was doing the work while he did the voice over. His love of the Australian Zoo and of all of Australia will be missed.

Yeah, we used to watch him everynight a couple years ago, sad to hear the news. I guess he was filming at the Great Barrier Reef and was speared through the chest by a stingray's barb.

Of all the animals that he tangled with, the stingray, which are normally friendly, is the one that cought him... Crazy..

Really sad story. My kids and I watched him all the time. Sadder still is he left a wife and two small children.

Seems his own family will push for the video of his death to be released to the public.

He was a good man. Really friendly type. Kind of person yoou would like to share a beer with and listen to his stories. Sad that I will never have the chance to do that. This beer is for Steve, cheers...

He was also such a huge animal conservationist and I think that he really brought that subject to notice. He will be missed.

I almost want to see him get hit by the stingray, then again it is sad for a man to wrestle with all sorts of deadly creatures to get it this way. At least he went out with his boots on.

The sound is all about the wood and the pickups. Bartolini all the time...

I love South Park but this does seem a little over the top.

Did you see the episode? I didn't find the scene as a whole offensive at all. That image standing by itself looks much, much worse than it really was.

I didn't see it, but I read about it, and understand the context.

I still have my doubts as to whether or not they needed to go there.
