Being a fellow who isn't a Republican, and with the hindsight of history, I'm thinking that perhaps he did a good job in his short time in office, getting handed the Watergate debacle and presiding over our extraction from Vietnam.

In hindsight, and after reading and learning more about the man, one might say he did a remarkable job at the helm under the circumstances.

I had no idea he was one helluva football player... :-)
