Nividia in a Microsoftesque fashion chose to release Detonator 4 during ATi's day of glory in an attempt to pop ATi's balloon.

Enough information above for the nerdiest of tech tweebs. Hopefully ATi can hang on with their new offering. You see kiddies, it's called competition and that's why you get your AMDs so cheap. The video market could certainly use some of that.

I've been waiting for these stupid drivers for so long it's silly... Rumor had it that they would be released concurrently with the 8500's, which was supposed to happen the last week in August, but as of now, no 8500, no Det4... Apparently, Det4 is supposed to show me what my GF3 is really capable of, so I'm really looking forward to getting them. Even GF2 users should see a small improvement in their performance when they are finally released. Just think, extra performance for free...

Nope, not yet... I don't actually expect them until the new Radeon's are released, as a bit of a spoiler...
