    New Computer!! .... WOOT!!

Well, I finally pulled the trigger on getting the new machine. It should be here this Wednesday. I should have it all setup and have everything installed and ready to go by the weekend I'm hoping.

My old comp has been so slow and annoying it ruining gaming for me. Im sure everyone remembers waiting 5 mins for me to zone into Kara or any other instance.

Here is the details for the new comp.....it should do me fine for quite a while I'm hoping....I feel I got a good price on it too.....only $1403. Let me know what ya think.

Very nice, I went with something similar for my new rig, except I decided to try out the AMD AM2 cpu. Very pleased so far. Although I kept XP Pro since I'm never one to upgrade to microsofts "latest and beta'est" OS until they patch it up a fair amount.

Anyone that currently runs vista, or after you've ran with it a little while, Myd, I'd be interested in hearing comments on it.

I run it in a dual boot configuration on my Mac Pro. Lots of very pretty bling. It's "blingtastic". Runs well on a super tweaked system. I don't know how it'd perform on anything less than cutting edge. Some compatibility problems with *some* games (S.T.A.L.K.E.R. kinda hated Vista early on...got a bit better with subsequent patches.)

If you install lots of software, you will grow tired of the Allow/Confirm messages. Very tired. Trust me.

So it's a mixed bag. Very pretty. Fun to play with if you're into tinkering. But it's a bit obtrusive if all you really are interested in is games or whatever.

If I was building a new Windows machine, I'd throw XP on it.

But then I'm a Mac user who won't be building/buying a Windows-only box for another 5 years minimum.

I run Vista on my office computer (it came preloaded) and also one of my laptops. The only game I run on either machine is WoW on the laptop, but that runs with absolutely no problems. I get what they're trying to do with the constant "click here" popups--they're making sure that the user really wants to launch a program as an administrator--but the net result is that the users they're most trying to protect develop an "autopilot" response. I've also seen a few issues with certain hardware drivers and legacy applications--but not as many as you might think, and none at all on either of my machines. All in all, I like the OS for the most part.
