I was quite disappointed with the first F4... it seemed to be focused on a younger target audience... which is fine. I know, I'm an adult and these are comic book movies for kids, but the reason these films are being green-lighted is because we comic book reading kids of the 70's and 80's are now a powerful financial force and the studios want our money. Yet it seems that they forget that we are not 8 anymore. We may want comic-book movies but now we have higher expectations. Batman Begins, 300, Sin City... these worked for me. Ya, F4 isn't a gritty dark graphic novel, but it didn't have to be so lollipop and cotton-candy looking. I now require a bit of drama, plot, and character development. It's just a shame they didn't make all these movies in 1984... that would have rocked.
I'm still looking forward to 'Watchmen', "Batman vs Joker', and yes, 'Transformers', which looks like a great summer afternoon popcorn movie.
