Profits Up - Stupid People Respond

So last quarter my company made 5.3 billion (up almost 25% over last year). The SF Chronicle ask for feedback - via a very neutral and unbiased question:

"Is there anything wrong with this picture?"

Here are the responses and please note... these represent a majority of the comments:

    "We need to moderate capitalism"
"We should just take their outrageous profits"
"It's time to nationalize the oil companies"
"It's time to reign in the greediest corporate vampires"

And to cap if off, all IP addresses out of my company have been blocked from posting to the newspaper's website. Sweet.

Just classic liberalism with their socialist values running wild. They don't think about, at all, that there are millions of Americans with those stocks in their portfolios. No, not just "the rich", but everyday people who have money in 401Ks, mutual funds, and other investment instruments. These oil company's are also part of many AARP retirement plans investment portfolios.

But no... we have SO MUCH to draw from to show how government can do it better and more efficiently.

Beyond that,do you know what our (the company's) tax burden is? If we're earning over 20b a year! I read that we are dishing out like 3bn in energy costs alone (think of all the refineries, pumps, wells, ports, terminals, offices, trucks, ships, company cars). Who do you think profits from that? Your local electric company and all of their employees. I hate folks that think that 'big business' is just a few rich, old, fat white dudes. It's everyone in this country. The small print shop that I use to print manuals; they profit off of me. The bottled-water delivery guy, the moving company that moves office furniture, the gardener that keeps the flowers blooming... they all reap the benefits of 'big business'. I'm big business. You're big business. My kids eat and are clothed because of big business. God I hate socialists. "The government should take over and they could do it better!" I'm sorry, what was that about Walter Reed Army Medical Center? They think that hard work and profit result in forcing someone to fail. You can't 'HAVE' without having a 'HAVE NOT' and God knows you can't blame the 'Have nots'... no, blame the HAVES. We've become a society of guilt and shame. Guilt for living in a country that affords us the opportunities to succeed and shame for doing so.

    /yes, I'm bitter

Liberals hate the thought of a meritocracy just as much as they say they do an aristocracy. They simply can't admit in public that they want a more socialized nation with nanny government programs. They believe there is no problem in America that can't be solved with government programs, regulations, and redistribution of wealth.

Did you see Kennedy and clan are already talking about another minimum wage program when the current one just took affect two days ago? $9.50 an hour they want now.

All your points are very valid, but they don't want to hear any of that. They believe that redistribution of wealth by the Federal Government is more effective than free markets and consumer based capitalism. It's that simple.
