While in Korea I was at the Daewoo Shipbuilder yards working on a new LPG carrier when I spotted this behemouth:



The BP Offshore Platform 'Thunder Horse' (originally to be named Crazy Horse till some Indians got a bit upset over that name ). It's hard to draw the picture of just how big this 120,000 ton rig is. Even from the bridge of a VLCC (Very Large Crude Carrier), the Thunder Horse is still a towering piece of machinery.

Thunder Horse is now the new name of the field where the platform will be operating. INFO HERE

But now... After Hurricane Dennis... here's what she looks like:


Ouch!

(Luckily the legs are like just bilges that flood to sttle her in the water... so it's just a matter of flicking on some pumps to get her stablized)
