Anyone have a Titanfall review? Looking for an AK review not a published review Thinking of picking this one up but will depend on how many AK are playing and opinions on whether it holds up to the hype or not.

Funny you should ask...I built a new gaming machine (last night in fact) and purchased Titanfall with the Season pass.
Took 3.5 hours to build the system and then install Win7. Then I had to update which involved downloading 173 patches. Updated the graphics driver. Installed AVG antivirus. THEN and only then, I was able to download the game.
At 40+ gig, it took 40 minutes or so to DL and install. I still managed to get a couple games in before going to sleep.
Very early impressions: Titanfall definitely seems like a high quality product...great production values. There's an extended tutorial that you play through to get you familiar with the moves. Jumping off walls is a genre changing dynamic
the likes of which we haven't seen in a FPS since Tribes' skiing. Then there's the Titans themselves... I tend to think of them as a suit of armor you can jump into that enhances your powers for a short while. They don't
seem to last long, but that may be because I simply ran into the middle of combat with them. It was fun stomping on pilots and grunts though.
Game play seems smooth and controls are intuitive. The game modes are typical - attrition (kill the other guys), CTF, and Hardpoint domination (typical Battlefield hold the target points the longest type deal.)
There is an experience system and an acheivement system. You level up, get weapons and other powers for both your Titans and yourself. There are loadouts that you can save once you get past the intro weapons. You can
switch loadouts between deaths. Melee kills are possible both in and out of your Titan.
Weapon balance and lasting value are the things I won't know until I get some real time in the game. Obviously I've financially committed to it by buying the season pass, so I'll be playing the game a good bit.
Not sure how taxing the game is on other peoples computers, but it runs super-smooth on mine at 2560x1600 and all frills maxed out. But then my system is brand spanking new...so YMMV. I'd tell Stitch to chime in but he plays on Xbox or something. o.O
I guess the bigger news is that I'm back in the gaming world again. Bring it.

I've been enjoying watching it on Twitch and it looks awesome. I have no interest in playing though, watching high quality players on twitch is a nice reminder of why I don't enjoy FPS's anymore.
LOL I hear you. I've been watching Twitch a lot too, lately. Thinking about starting a stream up eventually...although your statement about "high quality players" would no longer apply if I did.

I had a couple gift cards that Dell inexplicably sent me, so I bought a copy of Titanfall. Their shipping is ridiculously slow, so I might have it next week if I'm lucky. Looking forward to playing Titanfall with some AKers!
Picked it today and installed it so far great game and it does live up to the hype IMO. Really enjoying the assassin class easy to go 20:1 kd ratio against pilots and even more fun in your titan when you can summon. So far I like the assault class Titan better Only played for about 30 minutes got through the first 4 stages of the campaign and unlocked the cqb class but really smooth game play thus far built my machine a year and a half ago running the sandy bridge I7 3.4gz 16gb ram with the gtx 570 card and it runs everything on high very smooth. My EA ID is REDVAP0R with a zero and that's what you play as in game is you EA id. We should get together on vent and have some old fashioned fun trash talk included and encouraged especially towards Stitch

I'm going to pick up a copy for the weekend.
I played the beta, and it certainly has a Tribes-esque feel to it. Environment and atmosphere looked great. The maps feature "real" players interspersed with NPCs which gives it a cinematic feel to the battles. There's some unique weapons (smart pistols) and it seems customization of classes has huge potential. Map space was surprisingly tight quartered which makes for fast paced fights. I didn't quite like this aspect of the beta, as it seemed like I was getting stepped on by Titans frequently and often by accident. Guess I should have ran across the walls instead.
See you on the frontier.
Sent you a pm with the info.

I don't have a whole lot of time for gaming, haven't touched BF4 in months, but I was waiting to see what Squidly had to say about it since I saw him post about building a new PC and purchasing it. I was hoping it wasn't another Hawken game which turned out to be horrible.
I'd only purchase it if there were some AK to play with to make it more enjoyable. I was really enjoying BF4 until everyone seemed to disappear. If I have time I may pick it up late this week or over the weekend.

So far I am enjoying it I am lvl 44 right now so have a good portion of the unlocks and working on the achievements as I go. I like the fact you can choose to play one game type or random. It really does depend on the teams you get and unfortunately I seem to get on teams that are about to lose or just have no concept of any sort when it comes to tactics or teamwork. That being said I like the game. The fact that even if you don't have a titan you can still take one down with your anti-titan weapon or rodeoing keeps it from being lopsided. Definitely looking forward to the expansions as this game grows in popularity.

I agree with Gunny... I'm enjoying the game (although I haven't been on as much as I'd like due to prior commitments, and last night, exhaustion.) I'm level 23 or 24 currently. The unlocks and burn cards keep it interesting, as does the experience system and prestige cards.
I do agree with the end of this review, however. This game needs community features badly if it wants to sustain viability over the course of time.

Private servers, along with the ability to tour maps and practice them are essential. If they don't come sooner, rather than later, the competitive community will move on.
