And they were polishing shields, and burnishing swords, and washing armor, and shoeing horses. And the knights rode up to the castle. And from the battlements and the gates they risked their necks, through their eagerness to greet him, and to show their respect.

And near them was a man upon a war-horse of large size, with heavy and bright armor both upon himself and upon his horse. And truly they never before saw a man, or a horse, or armor, of such remarkable size, he will be called a August Knight.

Squidly you are called a knight; see that you do not act as hirelings. But be a true knight, with your sword always at the ready. Do not go to sleep, but guard on all sides thy honor and duty committed to you.

The war must have a Just Cause, it must be waged under Due Authority, and the August Knights must have Right Intentions.

With that the knights arose, and drew their swords against the Hordes. And they fought on foot with their swords until their arms struck sparks of fire like stars from one another; and thus they continued fighting until the blood and sweat obscured the light from their eyes. At length the Knights called all their strength, and struck the Hordes upon the crown of their heads, so that they broke all the head-armour, and cut through all the flesh and the skin, even to the skull, until they wounded the bone.

In the great hall we join together to bring forth one who has accepted the challenge. Raise Sir Squidly! Our newest August Knight.

Your humble and honored friend, In Service to All,
