Here is a self test for work addiction.
If you have to work on your vacation then life sucks. I was asked to put in time on a vacation once... once. Of course I value my personal time more than a big paycheck and have no kids or wife to take care of so I have that luxury.
When I become required to put in work on my off hours on a constant basis (there are many times it is needed but off hours work can get abused by a company) that is my signal to find a new job. I remember years ago at a 7-11 I worked at they wanted me to clock off at 7am (I was graveyard shift) but was still required to help with the morning rush for and hour or two daily. The day I was given that requirement was the day I quit, and with no notice or nice words.

oops.. my bad in the phrasing of my dilemma.
I'm working harder at home that I would have if I had gone to work. IE - Home Improvement jobs.

Now that does not totaly suck. Work sucks but if it improves the home (keeps the spouse off the back) then more good comes of it

I can attest to that. When we get my back yard finished, I'll post before and after photos of it, my office/den of gaming, and living room. I'm pretty proud of all three, though I can't take credit for the design, only the labor. I spent this weekend building a boundary for my vegetable garden, then digging and planting it. My shoulders are pink and my back groaned a bit today, but it was well worth it.
We just bought this house in September and the lawn is a wreck. Sprayed the whole thing with weed killer about two weeks ago, worked pretty well. Some more spots to address. Then yesterday I mowed it and purchased a gas powered Craftsman trimmer and did that. Then sprayed the whole yard with bug killer to address that.
Next up will be buying fill to fill in all the holes in the yard. Some rodent made, some I have no idea. Also need to level off the yard where we had two large trees cut down. Then we need to work on the foundation where we need to dig a bit, put down sand, some soil, and then top it off with some white crushed stone and angle it away from the house more. After that we will address more top soil and planting more grass, fertilizer.
Then there is the prior owners who put up a really nice shed out by the side of the garage. They put it up on a wood foundation with legs, but they went el cheapo and didn't pour the cement deep enough and the right side of the shed is about 1.5 inches lower than the left so closing the doors is damn near impossible.
Then on the front of the house we are going to put up a stone/brick facade around the face of the yard. Which means removing all the crap large stones that are out there and removing the growth they planted that looks horrible.
Plenty of work... very little time. Plus it looks like we are going to get some rain later today. Maybe I'll talk the wife into going down to the King of Prussia Mall and swinging over to the Apple Store - just because I want to visit one.
