I guess since Oakland is trading Rice to Seattle I will be forced to watch and see how he does with a good offense again.

It'll be interesting to see how he does with a real quarterback throwing him the ball. All we need him to do is catch the 5 or 6 yard passes on 3rd down that Koren Robinson has been dropping.
Plus if he can teach some of the young kids how to braid their hair like that it'd be a big plus.
I didn't realize Gunny was such a sucker for the glossy old Niner greats. I'll bet Montana still gives you a stout chubby, eh?

I met Jerry Rice, Joe Montana, Dwight Clark and Eddie Bebardalo when I was a kid at the Bing Crosby Pro Am. I, unlike fair weather fans don't just like the team but the players as well, say what you will about Rice can you name a receiver with a better career than his? Didn't think so! I did follow Montana's career after the Niner's but he never did much as a Chief. Unlike seahwaks fans seeing players doesn't give me a chubby, cheerleaders on the other hand thats a different story but I do admire some of the greatest players to ever play the game.

I might actually be able to use him now in my other fantasy league..

No, but I heard they are getting a credit on the salary cap for the Social Security he receives.

I am a hardcore Seahawk fan, and as such I'm a fan of my team first, players second. In this era of free agency, it's a wise move I think. Most players will not be with their team for their entire career, and I got caught up following Joey Galloway or Shawn Springs throughout their post-Seahawks travails I'd be mighty conflicted when the Hawks played the Bucs or Skins now wouldn't I?Originally Posted by [AK]Gunny Highway

That's not to say that I still don't respect their accomplishments. Rice on his third different team still has all the "skins on the wall", and you have to respect that. Further players of his ilk are rare and rate a different level of fan attachment (like if Largent had played one year with the Steelers or something I imagine I'd still be "fawning" overhim...lol.)

I agree I don't follow all former Niner's career's, just the few that really helped make the Niner's what they were. I will always be a Niner faithful, even this season but there is the rare player that is just that much better than the rest that is awesome to watch regardless of where they are playing.

Red Sox....pheh. 27 innings of my life, and the stupid Yankees can't get ONE LOUSY RUN? (I'm a born-n-bred Yankees fan, not some late-90s-bandwagon-jumper. I suffered through the Don Mattingly/Mike Pagliarullo/Jack Clark/Willie Randolph/Battle for the Basement years for over half my life...so I'm entitled to a lot of good years now! )

Yanks will win game 5 tonight (if they don't get rained out). Schilling's ankle still isn't healed and I'm predicting he gets a drubbing like last Friday night.

I hope you're right, Bribo, and I hope they're quick about it. I haven't gone to bed before 1:30 AM since Thursday night.
My expectations going into Boston was that the Yanks would only take one game (which they did). Anything else would have been gravy. I'm confident that the Yankee bats will prevail.Originally Posted by [AK]The Beast

Well what do you think of your Yanks now, and particularly that little stunt by Arod? I can't say that I'm a Yankee fan, but they still dropped a few notches in my prespective.
