Does anyone know a good free one? Now that my house is wireless, the "throne room" seems the most appropriate place to keep up with the NY Giants newsgroup.

You should try the Seahawks newsgroup... you would never be able to leave the throne.

Here's a list... and here's another...
I can't comment on the free ones (I use Unison), but there are comments on this site which should help you make a decision.

Thanks Squidly! I'm going to comb through the feedback and finally get my groups on my laptop.

Here's the one feature that matteres most to me and I haven't been able to find. (Maybe it doesn't exist and I'm just ignorant as to the nature of Usenet.)
I like to read a couple of newsgroups at work, and it'd be nice to be able to check them from home, and have my record of "read" postings remain intact. The problem is that I use a university server to read them from work and a Verizon server to read them from home. (I've already tested--I can't access either server from the other place.) Is there a reader out there that can keep a consistent record of "read" posts across two servers so that I don't have to see all the posts I've already read at work as unread at home and vice versa?
