The funny thing is that Cheney isn't the scariest looking guy in that photo. That guy on the right looks like he just finished a tour around the neighborhood in an ice cream truck with a false bottom freezer.

Watch the video. The dude is fine. This has been blown way out of proportion. You'd think he had a gaping hole in his chest or his head was blown clean off for heavens sake.

I have to admit that Cheney does have a somewhat sinister look about him, but having met he and his wife in person, I can vouch for his good character.
Cheney + shotgun =
On a related note, Alec Baldwin beats Barbra Streisand by a hair for the honor of being the celebrity activist with the lowest IQ. To wit:

WOW!!!
You can tell that some of that buck shot almost took out his eye...
He is lucky to be alive...
If it had been buckshot, he wouldn't be alive; he wouldn't have much of a head left.
Yeah, birdshot from a 28-gauge is a whole lot less lethal than buckshot. And he had to have been pretty far away even then, or the pattern would have been a lot tighter.

I believe his upper chest area received the bulk of the load, Ab. As Moon pointed out to me, it's a good thing it was steel shot; lead would have penetrated a lot deeper. Plus, the doctors would have had to remove every pellet so as to prevent lead poisoning.
