I had a blast pubbing this evening. Left 4 Dead really captures the essence of zombie films--especially recent ones like "28 Days Later" and the remake of "Dawn of the Dead."

After the wifey got home, I logged off to eat brains . . . err . . . dinner. Upon my return, I found, to my dismay, that my old 7800 GTX had given up the ghost. I've never seen a video card go from perfect working order to scrap metal whilst doing nothing before; the display was asleep while we ate. I've already ordered a replacement: an EVGA GeForce GTX 260 Core 216 Superclocked Edition with a free copy of Far Cry 2 for $259.99 from Newegg--a great deal. I hope that the new video card will extend the life of my 2.5 year-old clunker for another year or so.

This is a good card for the money, I've been thinking of upgrading from my 8800 GTS. MaximumPC just did a review of it this past month in the magazine. It's comparable to the ATI 4870 but with more shaders.
