I have a 4S, my wife has a 4. 4S is faster, screen resolution is about the same, and the camera is better. Of course I went from 3G to 4S, so it's a world of difference, 4 and 4S, not so much

Camera startup and shot-after-shot performance is light years better. Overall it feels snappier. If you use Siri, (and I do) it's significant. The cross application dictation feature is amazingly accurate.
Bottom line though - if my 4 wasn't broken and off maint, I would've waited until the 5.

I just picked up an HTC Vivid, pretty snappy phone as well, and I have 4G in my po-dunk city. Blazing fast, dual-core proc..... I'm impressed with it. Vlingo is not as good as Suri, but it does the trick.

The camera on the 4S is fantastic. Here's a sample picture I took on my canoe trip last weekend.
Hard to believe some of these pictures are coming from a phone.
