Did anyone here buy it and if so, was it any good? I really enjoyed HL2.

If you really enjoyed HL2, it's more of the same.

And the flags are all dead at the top of their poles.

HL2:E1 is down to $15 on Steam--not sure how long it'll last, but I might be picking this one up.
On a side note, for the paintballers among us, I just installed the Digital Paintball Gold mod--I tried an early version a year to 18 months ago and it was pretty cool (although a bit short on players). It's now listed under Steam's "free stuff" and it's being hosted (and plugged, one would assume) on paintball and gaming sites alike, so hopefully the population will have increased somewhat.
(Whoops--Digital Paintball is for HL1, not HL2--looks like Steam's got an hour's worth of d/l....good thing I've got a couple hours worth of housework.)

I'm back in town now, but I've got some buddies in from out of town for New Year's. I'll still have company on Monday but should be back into regular gaming rotation for Wednesday.
I finished HL2 Epi 1 a couple of months ago, and have been re-playing it with "comments on" recently. An interesting insight into game creation.
I've been trying this a bit lately, too. It definitely adds to the value of the game.
Entertainment-wise I think $15 is a pretty good value for your time, particularly if you compare it to the cost of going to the movies, etc.
Hasta,
Boom
I purchased it this weekend but I'm unable to play it. I get the following error message:
Internal driver error in IDirect3DDevice9::Present()
Searching the various forums, etc... it's a known and common problem, mostly with ATI folks. I have NO problems with HL2, only Episode 1.
I've already read the standard 'fixes', update video card drivers, make sure you have latest version of DirectX, turn of Catalyst AI, etc. None solve the problem. I emailed Steam, but I know what to expect from that. I may try and apply for a refund of my $16.00, but not sure that will work either. Not a big deal, but kind of pisses me off. Now that I'm getting over my Rainbow Six: VEGAS critique (Which I'm actually enjoying a little bit now even in single player mode, although I still get low 20s fps in certain areas of maps), I'm moving on to Episode 1.

I had problems with the game for awhile. Turned out my video card was overheating (bad fan.)
Replace the card, game runs fine for me.
This is sort of pc ownership in a nutshell. Varied configurations make game developers go nuts.
